LIPOSUCTION, SAL
Liposuction or Suction Assisted Lipectomy(SAL) is the method to removed excess subcutaneous fat from certain area such as Abdomen, waist, buttocks, thighs (Lateral or medial or anterior), calves, arms, faces (may be in associated with face lift) for the aim to improve body shape.
The liposuction technique is done by making small wound(holes) on the skin in hidden area about 1 cm. in length then the doctor put a blunt canular under skin and apply vacuum to pull out unwanted fat via the canular. This technique is use to replace the older technique that cut the unwanted fat and skin in block which left the long and large wound or scar.
Liposuction can remove fat in exact amount or thickness of fat layer as we want and after surgery the fat in the removed area will not increase in amount bring to permanent result of operations.
Liposuction need short operative time, short recovery period (a few days) and no unsightly wound compare to the convention cutting technique.
Safety and Risk;
Liposuction procedure is rather safe under careful doctor that aware of risk to the patients.
1. Bleeding - Liposuction will remove fat together with blood from broken small blood vessels (the ratio of fat and blood is variable due to technique and doctor experience usually bleeding is about 10-40 % depend on the area and density of fat) in case of small area or small amount of fat removed not more than 2,000 cc.-3,000cc will cause no harm to the patient (correlate to the body size)
Too much liposuction (>3,000cc) may caused much blood loss and harmful to the patients.
2. Risk from surgery; general patient’s health (illness, allergy, Embolism)
Anesthesia,
Infection.
3. Poor results; irregularity, loose skin, Scar.
Associated procedure; Fat transfer from the donor site to the other areas of body.
